BBj is a complete development and runtime environment used for the programming of business applications.

BBj consists of a toolset, dynamic scripting language, and a framework for server-based implementation. Its own language is characterized by a particularly simple and compact syntax.

The BASIS framework comes with an integrated 3-tier architecture. The data storage, business logic, and presentation layers are always clearly and logically separated in BBj applications, with no input required from the programmer.

BBj is based on the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and inherits all the advantages of Java: BBj applications can be easily scaled and used on all modern operating system environments and hardware platforms.

A web app which runs in any Javascript-enabled browser is automatically generated from each BBj application. Using this technology called "Browser User Interface" (BUI), which is based on the Google Web Toolkit, BBj developers can access web and mobile devices without any additional expense.
